Hello Everyone. I appreciate you visiting the site and reading my blog; it’s good to see those pretty eyes again.
I apologise for being inconsistent in my blogging; life has a way of catching you off guard when you least expect it. On top of that, my mental state was not 100% secure. Not that it’s perfect, but it’s a lot better than it was before. What affected my mental state was my current state of life and how my life was at the time. I’m very used to beating myself up when things don’t go as planned, and that’s exactly what I started doing to myself. I was unhappy with the way my life was going and was starting to beat myself up. I was always sad and cried my eyes out most of the time; I was basically not myself, and every little thing annoyed me. So I was unhappy with how I was losing myself and told myself it was time I did something about it. I knelt down one night, cried my eyes out to God, told him what I wanted and how I wished my life would go for the rest of the year, and then left everything at his feet. Obviously, I couldn’t just sit around waiting for God to perform a miracle; I had to put in the effort, so I went back to the drawing board and devised a strategy. First, I had to eliminate all of the toxic things that were draining my mental energy, which was mainly due to my job.
My workplace used to be fun. I enjoyed my job because it provided me with an escape. I was always excited to work after hours and on weekends. It kept my mind and body engaged, which was nice. But it gradually became a nightmare for me. I believe I even mentioned it in one of my blog articles, Welcome to 2024, about how my workplace was becoming toxic and how she came with her brother-in-law from the UK to speak with us, her workforce. Click on the highlighted text to read more about how my workplace became toxic.
So it was a lot for me coming in from that last year, so I was working but my heart wasn’t in it, and life just kept getting in the way, so in April, I took the bold step and just stopped going to work; at first, it wasn’t planned that I would quit; it was more like a one-day off that turned into the bold move. I began to consider how the money I would spend transporting myself to work, where I would be unhappy all day, could be used to eat food or do anything else that would make me happy, so I just stopped going to work. I initially planned to take the month of April off, but I couldn’t bear the mental agony that the job caused me; the thought of having to report to work alone would weigh me down, and that’s when I realised it wasn’t a conducive environment, so I said fuck it and did what I had to.
That is how I decided to end that phase and go on to better days. I began applying for jobs intensively, using all channels, particularly word of mouth. I told everyone who would listen that I was seeking for a job; however, I never told anyone that I had left my previous one because the previous advise I had received regarding the situation was to just wait until you found something better before leaving. I believe that advice was offered because to my financial situation, but I was so determined to change that I didn’t care; I was willing to suffer and toil as long as my peace of mind and happiness were guaranteed at the end of the day. So, April and May were difficult months for me; I lost weight, my body broke down, I was in and out of despair, and I questioned my decision and choices numerous times, but you know what? I didn’t give up and didn’t go back because I knew better days were ahead. That’s how my frown was turned upside down, and I eventually got a better job, almost like the one I’d prayed for. I’ll explain more about this in a future blog post.
So that’s how I took the high road, and it paid off. Most of the time, doing the hard and uncomfortable things was not in our best interests, but the end result was always worthwhile. I recall crying and feeling sad because I was idle and didn’t have anything to keep my mind busy. I couldn’t even write a blog post since I didn’t have any ginger, but look at me now, feeling brand new with my new job. So, whatever you want to do, don’t allow anything or anyone to stop you. Push yourself and make the tough decision. I assure you that you will not be disappointed.
And with that, we’ve ended another blog post. Thank you to everyone who clicked the link and read all the way to this point.

It’s China not Chinese 🖤💜❤️

I’m so sorry to hear you had to deal with a toxic workplace! I’ve been there and it’s the worst, especially if you have obligations that are preventing you to leave sooner than you wish (eg. bills, rent, etc.). I’m happy to hear you’re thriving in a new job! I’m in human resources so I love it when people enjoy their job and workplace since we spend so many hours of our lives there!
